The Bakery @ 825 Warner Street

[2017-2020]

From 2017 - 2020, The Bakery operated out of a 23,000 SF warehouse in Southwest Atlanta. I started working at The Bakery as a volunteer, the space was just getting off the ground and no one had a structured role - everyone wore a lot of hats to keep up with the fast-paced growth of the business. A few months in, I created our Community Manager role to bring structure to the business and served as the administrative backbone of the space for a year. A year later, I then trained up one of our interns to replace me as Community Manager. I then stepped into a new role as our Director of Programming. Our last year at 825 Warner Street, I oversaw all rentals and internal art/community programming. I worked directly with our venue Manager, Daniel DeSimone, who oversaw all of our live music events, and our Creative Director, Willow Goldstein.

I managed hundreds of events at this space from concept/intake to completion, ranging from small workshops and art exhibitions to large-scale festival events. While I learned a lot from managing events and this is admittedly a big notch on my resume belt, I’m most proud of the administrative work I did at The Bakery’s original space. Here are just 2 of my favorite projects:

  • Messaging + Awareness Campaign: Our 3-acre property was purchased by Trees Atlanta in 2019 and renewing our lease was not an option. We received a lot of questions from our audience about what was in store for our future. To answer these questions, I created and managed a digital messaging campaign including graphics, email marketing, and this very special time capsule video. I wrote the script and directed our staff while my colleague and friend, Lev Omelchenko, filmed and edited the final product.

  • Internship Program: As we continued to grow quickly, we needed more administrative help so I developed and managed an internship program, 2018-2020. I created the application, promoted it to local universities, and conducted interviews to hand pick our new team members. I created a structured, mutually beneficial three-month program that helped us while allowing the interns to learn new skills. We had several interns over the years and the program proved to be a success as most of our past interns are still involved today, either as volunteers or community ambassadors.
